Salon Material is a series of salons that links theory and text to material and physical space.
Salon Material is an initiative by artists Johanna Gustafsson Fürst and Liv Strand, and comes out of the desire to create another type of dialogue by re-building the bridges and throw more mental ropes across the gap between word
- spoken or written - AND space, things, material and bodies.
The format for Salon Material is a long evening of discussions and sometimes other actions that departs from texts by an theorist read in advance by the ones that signed up and also video-clips or some documentation from an artist's work. Out of this shared startingpoint the dialogue drifts around in search for understanding of the texts and artist's work. And this understanding also accumulate individual interests among the group that links to the discussions.
Depending on how many that joins we work both all together and in smaller groups.
