UP THE STAIRS / OPP TRAPPEN, 2008
at Eberg childrens nursery centre in Trondheim, Norway
Up the stairs / Opp trappen consists of a drawing of stairs and
circles made of a chain of silicone with encapsulated LEDs. The light
drawing is inscribed in the wooden floor and on to the façade by the
entrance.
The piece has 5 different light programs which control speed,
intensity of light and what part of the drawing that is being lit. The
different programs vary from small variations in intensity to those
where the light jumps from one part of the drawing to another. The
staff at the nursery centre control the programs via a set of buttons
placed inside.
